We would like to propose a trip that will take you from the Basque Country to the Atlantic Coast. Beginning with San Sebastian and Bilbao, the latter with its famed Guggenheim Museum, you will continue through Cantabria and Santander before entering the provinces of Asturias and Galicia. The trip will end at Santiago de Compostela, with its majestic cathedral, renowned termination of the pilgrimage, Way to Santiago.
Suggested Itinerary:
Day 1. Bilbao
Upon arrival in Bilbao, you will transfer to the selected hotel on your own. During the afternoon, our local guide will meet you at your hotel to take you on a private visit to the Guggenheim Museum. The rest of the day will be at your disposition to explore this interesting city.
Day 2. Bilbao-San Sebastian-Bilbao
After breakfast, you will catch an early train in the direction to San Sebastian, a trip of approximately 2 ½ hrs. Upon arrival, you will have the day free to discover the city´s old section, its superb boulevards, and especially its famous Concha (Shell) Bay. You will catch a late train to return to your hotel in Bilbao.
Day 3. Bilbao-Santander
After breakfast, you will take the train in the direction towards Santander. In two hours, you will be in Cantabria´s capital, where you will have the rest of the day to enjoy its old part, the Sardinero section and its beaches. Overnight stay.
Day 4. Santander-Ribadesella/Llanes
After breakfast you will again take the train, crossing the Cantabrian countryside, with the Picos de Europa Mountains in the background, towards the Asturian coast (about 2 hours). You will spend the night in one of the most beautiful coastal villages on the northern coast. Overnight stay in Ribadesella/Llanes.
Day 5. Ribadesella/Llanes (Asturias)
After breakfast, you will have the day free to explore Ribadesella / Llanes and their surroundings. These villages invite visitors to enjoy themselves, getting to know the area, its peoples, gastronomy and beaches. It is certainly one of the highlights of the trip. You may want to stay over. Overnight stay in Ribadesella/ Llanes.
Day 6. Ribadesella/Llanes-Oviedo
After breakfast, you will head towards Oviedo. After arrival and checking into the hotel selected, you will have free time to explore this interesting city with its old quarter: Cathedral, University, and such pre-Romanesque jewels as the Santa Maria del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo churches. Overnight stay in Oviedo.
Day 7. Oviedo-Ribadeo (Lugo)
After breakfast, you will catch the train with trajectory along the Asturian coast. Soon you will enter Galicia and the province of Lugo, where you will stop at Ribadeo, one of the most picturesque villages on the Cantabrian coast. You will stay overnight in the Parador de Ribadeo.
Day 8. Ribadeo-El Ferrol-Santiago de Compostela/La Coruña
After breakfast, you will take an early morning train that follows the coast towards El Ferrol. From there, you will transfer to either La Coruña or Santiago de Compostela, from either of which you can connect with the train to Madrid. End of our services.
