About the Trips
“There are certain trips that should only be taken by train. When there is no hurry and relaxation and enjoyment of the passing landscape without the worry of traffic are a priority, the rhyme aboard a train seems to invite us to break with life's routine. Through the window, we watch the world pass by as if on a screen as our senses flower and the imagination to take flight. Even on the modern trains of today's Spain, there is, undoubtedly, something truly romantic and nostalgic about this means of transport. Just sit back and take a much-needed reprieve from the rush and material demands of daily
life”

Madrid, Toledo, Córdoba, Seville and Granada
Although today, Spain has some of the most modern and rapid trains, at times during this trip you will not be able to shake the feeling that you have stepped back in time. Without leaving Eastern Europe, you will come to know cities that seem to have been taken out of the Tales of a thousand and One Nights. In Cordoba, you will visit one of the largest and most ancient mosques, a true forest of exquisite columns and one of the highpoints of the architecture of the Moorish period of Spain. In Seville, you will be able to stroll narrow streets, clearly inherited from the Moorish period, and climb one of the loveliest minarets in existence. In Granada, you will walk through the sumptuous rooms of one of the most celebrated and best-conserved medieval Islamic palaces. And all this without leaving Spain, and only a few hours by train from Madrid, Spain´s active and modern capital. [ + info]

Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao
Years of art collecting by its royalty, as well as a strong artistic tradition and a wealth of talent, has allowed Spain to develop some of the best museums in the world. In Madrid, the Prado shines above all, for its superb collections and its being one of the oldest on the European continent, but there is also the Thyssen Collection, which provides an extraordinary stroll through the history of Western painting, and the Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum, which houses the most important modern art collection in Spain with works by Gris, Dali and Picasso, including his famous uernica. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao has an exceptional collection of vanguard works from the 19th and 20th centuries. In Barcelona, you will want to visit the Picasso Museum, with some of his best young paintings, the Miró Foundation and Catalan National Art Museum (Romanesque and Gothic art). [ + info]
Toledo, Segovia, Córdoba, Barcelona and Girona
It is not known exactly when the first Jews arrived on the Iberian Peninsula, but possibly, it was before the imposition of the Roman Empire. But what is certain is that the Jewish culture found itself at home and with an important numerical presence. This is evident from the rich Jewish heritage that has been passed down from innumerable medieval villages and cities scattered about the peninsula and where it is still possible to visit ancient Jewish enclaves. For here, during centuries was written a story of tolerance that holds promise for mankind: the peaceful coexistence of Christians, Moors and Jews. [ + info]
